Drawing tools and rollers

Our wire drawing tools are subjected to various requirement profiles. For more information please select the profiles below.

Our manufacturing program also includes the reconditioning or repairing of wire drawing tools by grinding and polishing. Thus, for example drawing cones, capstans, rings, discs, rollers, pulleys, ring segments and contact tubes can be worked up several times at low costs.

  • Requirement profile 1:

Steel wires, steel cord, soft aluminium wires, wires for the jewellery industry

NWS-12/90 drawing tools made from high-alloy, completely hardened special steel can be repeatedly reground, are easy to service, compact, robust and are not sensitive to impact and thermal shocks. Special characteristics:

    NWS-12 drawing tools

    • in the case of normal requirements:
    • long service lives
    • first class wire coating
    • no adhesive, screw-in or plug-in connectors

    NWS-90 drawing tools

    • for maximum surface quality requirements
    • high drawing speeds
    • no adhesive, screw-in or plug-in connectors

From these materials, we produce the following wire drawing tools:

    • drawing cones
    • drawing capstans
    • drawing rings
    • drawing discs

  • Requirement profile 2:

Wire made from copper, copper alloys and other non-ferric metals

On account of their layer thickness, NWM-74 drawing tools can be easily reground, and are characterised by their compactness, robustness, resistance and are very easy to service. The coating contains carbides, borides and silicides, and is partially alloyed to the base material in a vacuum

    NWM-74 drawing tools

    • extremely abrasion-proof running surface
    • high reliability
    • top efficiency profile

    From this material we produce:

    • drawing cones
    • drawing rings
    • drawing capstans
    • drawing discs

  • Requirement profile 3:

Particular suitability for steel cord wires

NWM-81/83 drawing tools are thermally coated and feature a high level of Tungsten carbide. This makes them particularly suitable for drawing steel cord wires.

    NWM-81/83 drawing tools

    • can be reground
    • compact, robust and non-sensitive
    • very easy to service
    • no adhesive, screw-in or plug-in connectors

From these materials we manufacture the following wire drawing tools:

    • drawing discs
    • drawing capstans
    • drawing rings
    • drawing cones

  • Requirement profile 4:

Copper wires, plated copper wires, for use on fine wire machines

NWK-78 drawing tools are coated with oxide ceramics. Through re-coating, the NWK-78 drawing tools can re-attain their nominal diameter.

    NWK-78 drawing tools

    • the surface of the wire is of a particularly high quality
    • repeated life cycles as a consequence of re-coating
    • non-conductive

    From this material we produce:

    • drawing capstans
    • drawing discs
    • drawing rings
    • drawing cones

  • Requirement profile 5:

Where the requirement for resistance to wear and tear is particularly high and in unfavourable drawing conditions

NWZ/A drawing tools, whether they are made from 100% ceramics (on a zirconium or aluminium oxide basis) or composite ceramic steel, hold their own under unfavourable drawing conditions through their resistance to wear and tear and their cost effectiveness. Ring diameters are available up to 500 mm.

    NWZ/A drawing tools

    • can be re-ground
    • individually exchangeable ceramic rings

Our oxide ceramics are used for the following wire drawing tools:

    • drawing cones
    • drawing capstans
    • multiwire rolls
    • ceramic steel composite
    • drawing rings
    • drawing discs

  • Requirement profile 6:

    For steering, guiding, relocating

NW steering, guiding and relocating rollers suit all types of machines. Due to the low mass and the low moment of inertia, the base plate of the basic design is made of aluminium.

    NW rollers

    • The surfaces exposed to wear and tear are coated with oxide ceramics (NWK-75 or NWK-78)
    • The surfaces exposed to wear and tear are coated with metal (NWM-86)
    • Can be supplied made from 100% ceramics or composite ceramic steel
    • Additional wire guidance elements such as eyelets, rods, ring segments or pipes can also be supplied as a 100% ceramic model.

NW wire guides are made of  aluminium oxide and zirconium oxide and are available for all machine types. Furthermore they can be produced regarding to customers requirements and needs.

Our wire guides / ceramic guides are available in the following shapes:

    • ceramic eyelets
    • ceramic rings
    • ceramic bars
    • ceramic tubes
    • ceramic eyes
    • ceramic bushings
    • ceramic jets
    • ceramic rolls
    • ceramic conical bushings
    • ceramic conical eyelets
    • ceramic nipples
    • ceramic rods
    • ceramic slit guides
    • ceramic traverse guides
    • ceramic snail guides
    • ceramic square guides
    • ceramic dogtail guides
